Starting off: Eyeliner

Another week, another #theSOproject post! it's getting near to the end now and I can't believe it! It only feels like yesterday that we were starting the project and now there is only a couple of weeks left! Along with mascara, eyeliner is one of my favourite products to wear, I just love having really bold, defined eyes and a flick of eyeliner can work wonders on your whole look. My everyday look is basically all about the eyes; I love wearing jet black eyeliner over my eyelid and having long fluttery eyelashes on top. Considering eye make up is what I really focus on, I don't really wear eyeshadow, I'll probably have a neutral base of eyeshadow before applying eyeliner, but that's about it really.

Eyeliner is probably one of the hardest make up products to use, you need nerves of steel to stop your hands shaking and your oh-so-even line going to pot and smudging. It also takes a lot of practise to make sure your eyes look even and eyeliner on one eye doesn't look thicker/thinner than the other. But we have all been there, and in time you will get the hang of it.

I'm going to share with you my eyeliner collection, the different types of eyeliner that I own and the best way to apply each type. As I've said before, I am no expert so don't take my word as gospel, each person develops their own way that they think is best. There are so many different ways to wear eyeliner and it will take me forever to go into detail! whether you like bold and dramatic or minimal, the fun is experimenting with all these different looks yourself, and once you can apply basic eyeliner it's easy to build it up then into something more complex.

Starting Off: Mascara

I am trying really hard to get back on track with #theSOproject, I just seem to have been so busy once again! But alas, only a day late this week so I'm definitely improving; I'm hoping to organise myself a lot better and post more frequently, I have a few ideas up my sleeve so I hope you'll be looking forward to seeing more of my posts.

This week is one of my favourite make-up products of all time - mascara. I will wear it every time I leave the house, once I was in a rush and I forgot to put it on before work and I felt lost without it and was even considering dashing out and buying a new mascara during my lunch break I was that desperate! Out of anything else, I love having bold eye make-up the most and having a good mascara is definitely a factor in making your eyes appear brighter and more awake.

Starting Off: Bronzer

I seem to be running a week behind on #theSOproject lately! Though I do have a good excuse this time as I was prepping for my surprise trip to London that was organised by my lovely boyfriend for my birthday present! I got the train down on Thursday and met him at St Pancras where he whisked me away to a lovely 4* hotel where we got upgraded to an executive room! Another part of my surprise was tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Friday night, which was absolutely mind blowing! The rest of the time was spent sight seeing, shopping on Oxford St and generally wandering around taking in the atmosphere, it was a lovely trip and I can't believe he managed to keep it all a secret from me! Maybe I'll do a proper blog post on it with a few of my pictures.

Anyway, back to business! We have already covered Concealer and Foundation in previous weeks, which help to create an even canvas, Bronzer is then used to add shadow and contours to your face, as well as a lovely sun-kissed glow. As someone with dreadfully pale skin, I like to use bronzer to add some colour to my face and help to define my round completely undefined face! I do wish I had natural killer cheekbones, but at least with bronzer I can fake them a little!

Now you can get different types of bronzers, with different shades to suit different skin tones - also some are shimmery and some are matte. Now matte bronzers and shimmery bronzers are used to achieve different looks, so I'm going to go into what they are used for and how they are applied in a little more detail - each with an example of bronzers that I currently own.

Starting Off: Foundation

It's week 4 of #theSOproject and this is going to be a double bill as I have been incredibly busy and didn't have time to finish my foundation post from last week! So this will be my first post this week for last weeks edition and then there will be this weeks regular post as well! We are a few weeks into the project now and it's been fantastic so far to talk with the bloggers who are taking part and to find other opinions and reviews on different products that I know and some that I don't! It's really opened my eyes to how broad the spectrum of beauty products is and convinced me I should be more open to try products and brands that I haven't gone for before. Last time I touched upon concealers and this week I am going to build upon this and talk about foundations.

Foundations are a make-up basic and help to cover flaws, improve the look of skin quality and to create an even complexion. There are many different foundations with varying levels of coverage and are suited to different skin types. In recent years, Primers, BB and CC creams have been developed to further perfect the skin's appearance and these can be worn underneath foundation so that foundation's have an even surface to be applied to or they can be worn by themselves for a light coverage and a quick fix to improve the look of complexions. I am going to share with you my collection of foundations, primers, BB and CC creams, their different levels of coverage, suitability for skin types and what different factors they aim to provide to a consumer.

Starting Off: Concealer

I hoped you all enjoyed my first installment of #theSOproject last week on Skincare, I'm now bringing you the latest part of the project which is all about concealers! As teenagers we've all had to endure breakouts and waking up to huge, angry, embarrassing spots that we'd wish would disappear before we headed off to school or college. Even now, we still strive to have blemish free skin and to cover up any imperfections that may appear due to stress, being run down or a sleepless night. For both teenagers and adults, concealers can be our best friends as a quick fix to perfect our skin, a little bit of concealer in the right places can be a great confidence booster, especially for young teenagers experiencing spots for the first time. My concealer collection at the minute is shockingly bad due to a clear out to get rid of old products, so at the minute I only have one, and it's a pretty basic concealer at that! So I am going to share with you concealers I have used over the past few years and the best way to use them for different skin blemishes and imperfections.

Starting Off: Skincare

Hello all, you may have seen on Twitter already that there is a brand new blogger project that has been started by the lovely Steph over at Steph's Inside Voice. The Starting Off Project aims for bloggers to get involved and share their experiences and usage of different beauty products every week as part of a 10 week series. These posts will hopefully help people who are new to using beauty products or to those who are just looking for some beauty tips and to discover new products! When I saw Steph's tweets, I knew I had to get involved with this and at the moment there are 120 bloggers that are part of the project! I know it's going to be amazing to see everyone's recommendations and experiences with different products.
