The Christmas Haul // What I got for Chrismtas

I've seen many bloggers share what they received for Christmas in a haul post, so I thought I would do one of my own! Considering I'm getting old, I think I've done pretty well this year and got some really lovely things; I think now I'm a bit older I really love to give people presents and see them make people happy, so I do tend to go a bit crazy when buying things for others! I didn't really have anything specific that I wanted to get, I'm so indecisive and I don't like it to look like I was expecting a big pile of different presents, I've probably mentioned a few things over the past few months but never expected to get them! If you follow me on Twitter, you will probably know a few of the presents that I got, but here is a full list of the presents I received this year.

Outfit Of The Day // 25th December

Hello everyone and I hope you've had a very merry Christmas and you've had a lovely time with all your loved ones! I for one was actually looking forward to Christmas this year as it was the first time in 3 years I've been able to spend longer than a day at home! For the past few years I worked for Next up in Manchester and of course had to work the dreaded Next sale, though I wasn't allowed to transfer to Leicester stores to be close to home for Christmas (100+ miles away from my normal store) and was given the ultimatum of either finding a way to travel up to Manchester (may also add no trains on boxing day as well, so had to be driven up) or losing my job, but hey ho lets not get into that now. This year on my placement I have nearly 2 weeks off from work! I really don't know what to do with myself with all this free time! I won't be looking forward to going back to retail next year that's for sure! But my mum and dad are overjoyed that I'm living with them for the year whilst on placement and especially happy that I'm here over Christmas as well, so that's the main thing that I get to spend some time with them.

This year for Christmas we decided to have a bit of fun and the girls had to wear a Christmas onesie and the boys had to wear Christmas jumpers! I for one wasn't going to complain about spending the whole day in pjs. My onesie is from Primark, I'm not sure how much it was as my mum brought it for me but I'm guessing it's around the £10 mark. Mine was bright red with a white fair isle print all over it, so it looked very festive indeed. The material had a waffle weave texture to it and was very comfortable, the only downside is all the buttons you have to undo and redo when needing the loo, it would have been a lot more practical with poppers! Although it was my size, it was literally like a tent on me, I'm 5'8" so I'm hardly small but it was like it had a drop crotch and was very baggy on my body and legs, it could have easily fit someone probably half a foot taller than me! If you get one of these onesies, it suggest going a size smaller than you normally would.

Although my outfit was pretty low key and I just wore my onesie with some slipper boots I got last year, I decided to have a full face of make up with a bold eye and lip, after all it is Christmas. I also put Sleep In Rollers in my hair the night before just to add some volume and a bit of a wave to my hair, I'll have to do a full review of them at some point to show you properly.

What did you go for for your Christmas day outfit, dressed to the nines or casual and comfy like me?

Amie xx

P.S. If you'd like to keep up to date with all my posts as well as to see what I'm loving and what I'm up to, please follow my links below!

Beauty Haul // Elf Cosmetics (+ swatches)

I am a sucker for trying new brands and new products, I just can't stick to the same products and colours - variety is the spice of life after all! You can never have enough make up products - especially for eyes, lips and nails, I love being able to completely transform your look just by swapping for a different colour. So when I saw on Twitter that ELF were hosting a 50% off sale a couple of weeks back, I just couldn't resist having a look at their massive range of products! Personally I had never bought anything from ELF before, but I had seen good things from other beauty bloggers, so I thought that during the 50% off sale would be the ideal opportunity to try the brand out!

Until I looked on the website, I didn't actually realise how affordable the prices were and that was without the 50% off on top! With this in mind and the fact that as a student I can't resist  a good bargain, I did go a *little* bit crazy and bought a wide range of different make up products to try out. I didn't realise how much I had actually bought until a massive cardboard box arrived for me packed full of make up! I just kept pulling out more and more, it was just never ending, I couldn't believe I got so much - £60 worth of make up products for just £30! And to make it even better I also got free delivery, double score! I'm going to share with you my first ELF haul purchases below and my first impressions on the products.

Battle of the Christmas Ads: Debenhams 'Wishes Made Fabulous'

This week seems to have been THE week to release Christmas adverts, they all seem to have come at once in a whirl of stylish clothing and decadent food. Literally within the same ad break that Marks and Spencer released their Christmas campaign to the masses, Debenhams also debuted their Christmas campaign 'Wishes Made Fabulous'. After their massive return to Christmas campaigns last year with 'Christmas Made Fabulous'; the story of a woman's stylish journey home for Christmas in THAT red coat - which inevitably became their best selling coat of all time, Debenhams new advert echoes the theme of coming together for Christmas with the journey of a couple reuniting in time for the festive season.

Battle of the Christmas Ads: Marks & Spencer's 'Magic and Sparkle'

When it comes to November, it's only a matter of time before the C word is on everyones lips and constantly pops up wherever we go - whether that be out and about or in the comfort of our own home; there is no escape, Christmas is officially on it's way! During the build up to the festive season, brands begin to pull out their big Christmas campaigns to showcase the best of what they have to offer this season whilst connecting emotionally with the audience to create a buzz around their campaigns and generate sales in the run up to Christmas.

The first of the Christmas adverts are already starting to filter through onto our screens and in store and there's lots of anticipation for what certain brands are going to do to stand out to us. I love advertisements at Christmas, I feel this is when brands really push the boat out with their marketing and create their best and most original campaigns - unsurprisingly really as this is the most lucrative time of year for most if not all businesses!

One of the most anticipated Christmas ads year on year has to be Marks & Spencer's. Big stars have featured in their clothing adverts for as long as I can remember; from the days of the supermodel M&S featuring the likes of Twiggy, Erin O'Conner, Lily Cole and Noemie Lenoir (The one who was ALWAYS in her undies) enjoying all Christmas has to offer in the latest collection of clothing to featuring the X Factor finalists that updated each week to include those still in the competition.

This year hasn't changed and now features the beautiful Rosie Huntington Whitely, Helena Bonham Carter and the gorgeous as ever David Gandy depicting different characters throughout the advert. Rosie and David are a wise choice as Rosie's not only models but designed her own underwear collection for M&S - which is their fastest selling of time and David is currently the face of M&S' premium Collezione range.
